Semaglutide or Tirzepatide is  taken once a week, any time of day, with or without food.

Yes, it’s recommended that you take Semaglutide/Tirzepatide on the same day every week at a time that is most convenient for you.

At Champion Health and Wellness, it’s important to be aware that, like any medication, Semaglutide can cause side effects. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, decreased appetite, and indigestion. These are usually mild to moderate and often diminish as your body adjusts to the medication.

In rare cases, Semaglutide can cause more serious side effects, such as pancreatitis, kidney problems, allergic reactions, and hypoglycemia. If you experience severe symptoms like intense stomach pain, difficulty breathing, or dizziness, seek medical attention immediately.

Always communicate with your Champion Health and Wellness provider about any side effects you experience. They can help determine if the benefits of Semaglutide outweigh the risks for you and may offer strategies to manage any side effects.

Semaglutide can interact with other medications, which can affect how it works or increase the risk of side effects. Some of the most common drug interactions are:

  1. Insulin: Semaglutide can increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used in combination with insulin or insulin secretagogues (such as sulfonylureas).
  2. Oral medications for type 2 diabetes: Semaglutide can also increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used in combination with certain oral medications for type 2 diabetes, such as metformin, sulfonylureas, and thiazolidinediones.
  3. Warfarin: Semaglutide may increase the risk of bleeding when used in combination with warfarin or other anticoagulant medications.
  4. Other medications: Antibiotics, antidepressants, and medications for high blood pressure or cholesterol can all interact with Semaglutide.

It is important to inform your Champion Health and Wellness Clinics’ provider about all medications and supplements you are taking before starting Semaglutide.

Tirzepatide can interact with other medications, which can affect how it works or increase the risk of side effects. Some of the most common drug interactions are:

  1. Insulin: Tirzepatide can increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used in combination with insulin or insulin secretagogues (such as sulfonylureas).
  2. Oral medications for type 2 diabetes: Tirzepatidee can also increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used in combination with certain oral medications for type 2 diabetes, such as metformin, sulfonylureas, and thiazolidinediones.
  3. Tirzepatide may impact the absorption of oral medications, including birth control pills, especially when starting the treatment or increasing the dosage. By slowing the movement of food from the stomach to the small intestine, Tirzepatide can delay the absorption of birth control pills, potentially reducing their effectiveness and increasing the risk of unintended pregnancy. Furthermore, gastrointestinal side effects like vomiting and diarrhea can further disrupt absorption.
  4. Warfarin: Tirzepatide may increase the risk of bleeding when used in combination with warfarin or other anticoagulant medications.
  5. Other medications: Antibiotics, antidepressants, and medications for high blood pressure or cholesterol can all interact with Tirzepatide.

It is important to inform your Champion Health and Wellness Clinics’ provider about all medications and supplements you are taking before starting Tirzepatide.

How do GLP-1 medications work?

GLP-1 medications work with your body’s natural GLP-1 receptors to regulate weight loss, and metabolic function, as well as decrease your risk of other diseases.

GLP-1s lead the pancreas to produce insulin after meals to bring down blood sugar. They also bind to receptors in the brain to suppress appetite. These receptors release chemicals that help diminish the desire to eat, reducing your hunger.

GLP-1s are natural chemicals, but don’t last long within the human body. That’s why taking GLP-1s can help reduce your weight even though your body already produces its own.

Research has shown that in addition to exercise and diet changes, Champion Health and Wellness Clinics programs combined with GLP-1 medications are the most effective way to lose weight and safely keep it off.

We can develop a weight loss program specifically for You.
